Things didn’t start well. For the first few months it was constant rain, irksome slackers, and having to listen to the ridiculous idea that some kind of rivalry exists between Portland and Brooklyn. I think it’s fair to say that that rivalry only exists in the minds of Portlanders.
But then July came around, and suddenly the weather was perfect, and by the good graces of a couple of friends I was able to escape into the great outdoors. As I wrap up my last couple of days here, I can honestly say that I will fondly remember the following (in no particular order):
1 – Powell’s Books
2 – Vintage tees for $8
3 – The saline pool at LA Fitness
4 – My solo picnics in Couch Park
5 – The surprisingly hot “straight” guys who just STARE at you
6 – Eagle Creek / Punchbowl Falls
7 – Rooster Rock
8 – Cinema 21 Theatre
9 – Happy hour food menus
10 – My own studio for $600/month
Farewell, Portland. I’ll be back someday to play a show and swim naked again in your fair waters.
